Cape Cod Canal “Miles of Memories” Walk

Lace up your sneakers and join us on Sun., May 31st, for the 17th Annual Cape Cod “Miles for Memories” Walk for Alzheimer’s Services. This is your opportunity to make a difference in our community! All funds raised remain in the greater Cape Cod and Island region to support programs and services for people with Alzheimer’s disease, their families and caregivers. The Miles of Memories Canal Walk starts at the Buzzards Bay Recreation Area - Bourne Town Green adjacent to the Railroad Bridge.
There will be a free Community Concert performed by the Cape Cod Conservatory Big Band under the direction of Tyler Newcomb from 11 to noontime. The 20 piece orchestra cooks playing timeless jazz of Stan Kenton, Glen Miller and Count Basie.
These professional musicians are volunteering their talent to benefit this event and if you have never heard this group, you are doing yourself a disservice.
Come to the Bourne Town Gazebo - Bring along a folding chair and enjoy the music. The Walk along the Canal starts at noontime.
It is estimated that more than 8,500 residents of Cape Cod and the Islands have Alzheimer’s disease or a related dementia and the number of Alzheimer’s cases on the Cape is expected to double by 2020. Alzheimer’s Services of Cape Cod & the Islands has been providing resources and support for these local families and healthcare professionals since 1984. On behalf of our many friends and neighbors who are dealing with this devastating illness, we hope that you might walk with us in support of Alzheimer’s Services of Cape Cod & the Islands, Inc. Gather friends, family or coworkers and walk as a team or join the hundreds of walkers by registering as an individual.
